Diet and Exercise Keys to Healthy Lifestyle

Fall 2018 Edition

CAN-Sirs would like to thank all the supporters and teams that participated in the Senior Softball/CAN-Sirs Northern California Senior Softball tournament.

It is our privilege to partner with SSUSA and we hope to continue and improve on future events.

Healthy Lifestyle

My thought today is something I've touched on in the past but it bears repeating: Enjoy a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise.

CAN-Sirs has always promoted this lifestyle. Recently I have noticed that this advice is everywhere. Advice on preventing cancer, heart attacks, avoiding stroke, diabetes, and many other serious debilitating or deadly diseases always includes maintaining a healthy lifestyle, diet, and exercise.

When drug companies advertise their products, they list all the medicines and supplements you should avoid when taking the drug. Also, they recommend not using it if you have a certain sickness or maladies. The interesting part of all their advertising and promotion is that it always carries a tagline that says if used along with a healthy lifestyle, diet, and exercise.

How much can a supplement or vitamin do if it's not part of a healthy diet and exercise?

We encourage you to keep exercise and diet a part of your life both during and off season. There are excellent conditioning exercises and helpful hints on our website,

CAN-Sirs Events

CAN-Sirs is a nonprofit corporation. Our mission is to make ourselves available to tell our stories of success in surviving cancer. We concentrate our efforts on senior softball players and their families to promote awareness and prevention of cancer, support organizations, and new research. We do this mainly at senior softball events.

We also have had our own benefit tournament in Elk Grove, Calif. We have participation from many local organizations and are in the process of creating a community cancer event.

Another ongoing fundraiser that we held was providing softballs to tournaments and teams. All profits went to supporting CAN-Sirs mission.

We always welcome your continuing support. Send your contributions to CAN-Sirs, 2485 Notre Dame Blvd #370-180, Chico, CA 95928.

We may finally be winning the battle to turn what once was a deadly diagnosis into a disease that can be controlled and cured. Immunotherapies and gene-targeting drugs are changing the course of some cancers.
